Medical Care
Structured adult ADHD evaluation, medication management, and follow-up that considers sleep, mood, medical history, daily function, and safety.
A PLAN BUILT AROUND YOUR BIOLOGY
Difficulty focusing, organizing, starting tasks, remembering details, or regulating attention can occur with ADHD, but also with poor sleep, anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, medication effects, thyroid disease, and other medical concerns. A meaningful evaluation looks at the pattern over time and the effect on daily function.
I review childhood history, current responsibilities, mood and sleep, cardiovascular history, medications, substance-use history, and previous treatment before deciding whether ADHD is the best explanation and what care is appropriate.
A NOTE FROM ELIZABETH
Adults often arrive after years of being told they are lazy, scattered, or simply need to try harder. I want to understand the actual pattern and how it affects your life. A diagnosis should bring clarity and a practical plan—not become a shortcut around a careful medical assessment.

TREATMENT OPTIONS
After an ADHD diagnosis, care may include stimulant or non-stimulant medication, behavioral strategies, sleep and routine changes, and coordination with a therapist. Medication is just one tool, not the entire treatment plan.
UNDERSTANDING YOUR TREATMENT
ADHD medications influence brain signaling involved in attention, impulse control, task initiation, and working memory. The goal is improved function at an appropriate dose—not a feeling of being overstimulated or emotionally flattened.
CANDIDACY & SAFETY
Many adults with stable medical and mental-health needs can be evaluated here. Complex diagnostic questions, uncontrolled mood symptoms, active substance-use concerns, significant cardiovascular risk, or need for formal neuropsychological testing may require coordination or referral.
Controlled medications require accurate history, secure storage, monitoring, and adherence to prescribing agreements. Treatment may be delayed or referred when safety cannot be established.
WHAT TO EXPECT
We review symptom history, childhood pattern, current impairment, sleep, mood, trauma, substance use, medications, and medical risk factors.
Options and limitations are discussed, including medication and non-medication strategies. Baseline monitoring or outside records may be needed before prescribing.
Regular visits evaluate function, side effects, vital signs, medication use, and whether the diagnosis or treatment plan still fits.
TREATMENT GOALS & MONITORING
We define practical outcomes such as completing tasks more consistently, managing time, reducing avoidable errors, following conversations, or functioning more reliably at work and home.
Follow-up reviews symptom benefit, duration, sleep, appetite, weight, mood, blood pressure, pulse, adherence, and any misuse risk. The medication, dose, timing, or overall plan is adjusted according to function and safety.
AFTERCARE & RECOVERY
Take ADHD medication exactly as prescribed, do not share it, and store controlled medication securely. Monitor sleep, appetite, mood, blood pressure, and pulse as directed. Avoid adding stimulants, weight-loss products, decongestants, or large amounts of caffeine without discussing possible interactions.
Keep scheduled follow-up visits so benefit, duration of effect, side effects, and cardiovascular safety can be reviewed. Contact the clinic for persistent insomnia, marked appetite or weight change, worsening anxiety or mood symptoms, palpitations, or elevated blood pressure. Seek urgent care for chest pain, fainting, severe shortness of breath, new neurologic symptoms, or thoughts of self-harm.
