Choose Hagen Health & Absolute Aesthetics

Because Healthy Skin & Aesthetically Pleasing Skin are not Opposing Goals

At Hagen Health & Absolute Aesthetics, I believe the health and appearance of your skin belong in the same conversation. Years of sun exposure can cause brown spots, uneven pigmentation, redness, visible blood vessels, rough texture, and other changes in skin quality. Some are primarily cosmetic, while others require medical evaluation and treatment.

Cumulative UV exposure can also cause actinic keratoses (precancerous lesions) and increase the risk of skin cancers, including basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma. New, changing, bleeding, persistent, rapidly growing, or otherwise concerning lesions should be evaluated before they are treated cosmetically. When appropriate, evaluation may lead to medical treatment, biopsy, excision, monitoring or referral.

Once we know what we are treating, the goal is the best possible medical and cosmetic outcome. Your health always comes first, but that does not mean appearance is unimportant. Whenever medically appropriate, I consider healing, scarring, pigmentation, texture, and the eventual appearance of the treated area as part of treatment planning.

The same principle applies to aesthetic care. A brown spot may be unwanted pigmentation—or something that should be medically evaluated before it is removed. A rough patch may be sun-damaged texture or an actinic keratosis requiring medical treatment. A cosmetic concern deserves appropriate medical consideration, just as medical treatment deserves consideration of the cosmetic outcome.

Once medically appropriate, we can address visible sun damage with treatments such as IPL or other light-based treatments, chemical peels, medical-grade skincare, and medical or procedural dermatology, depending on your skin and what we are treating.

My goal is to protect the health of your skin while achieving the best cosmetic outcome safely possible.
